Turning up the heat on the Volt:

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn says the Japanese automaker has already reached its maximum production capacity for its Leaf electric car in the United States this year. “We think there is a big future for this car. Plugged in for the 500: A battery-electric version of upcoming Fiat 500 small car is expected to appear on Chrysler’s stand at the Detroit, Mich., auto show on Jan. 11. Fiat currently runs once-bankrupt Chrysler. According to trade newspaper Automotive News, the 500 EV will be part of a display that includes the 500C convertible and the 500 Abarth, Fiat plans to begin selling the 500 in North America in late 2010 or early 2011 and will build the car at Chrysler’s Toluca plant in Mexico. Word is that the Chrysler display will also include a Chrysler version of the Lancia Delta hatchback, which is currently sold in Europe. (more…)
